The Rova Sweater is a great combination of two cultures: Sami and Finnish. The design on the yoke is inspired by Sami woven bands, and the name is from Finland. Some believe that the Santa Claus is from Rovaniemi, and since the sweater has a Christmas look to it, the name just had to be Rova. Finnish “o” is pronounced like a Norwegian “å”, so the correct name is Råva Sweater.
This knitting kit includes all material needed to make your own traditional Icelandic sweater: The design, Rova sweater, made of Plötulopi, is made by the Norwegian designer Christina Gjertsen, under the name of Sisu Knitwear.
